Parliamentary activity
Meetings and engagements

As it is not possible to meet MPs during the election campaign, we are rescheduling those meetings we had previously set up:

  • Peter Dowd, Labour MP for Bootle (28th June)
  • Ian Mearns, Labour MP and member of the Education Select Committee (TBC)
  • Neil Parish, Conservative MP and chair of the Defra Committee (TBC)
  • Diana Johnson, Labour MP for Kingston upon Hull North (TBC)

Election engagement

As part of our election engagement, we identified 375 key parliamentary candidates and asked them to pledge their support for a post-Brexit national school milk scheme, and share their endorsement on social media. We have received twenty-one positive responses. We hope to secure meetings with those candidates who have won their seats shortly after the election.

Additionally, we suggested to the main opposition parties include in their manifestos a commitment to a post-Brexit school milk scheme and extending the nursery milk scheme to all children in reception year. Although none of these manifestos featured an explicit commitment in these areas, the high-profile school food and nutrition has taken in the election is a positive sign for the future of school and nursery milk.
