Nursery milk in the UK
Children across the UK receive milk in different ways. This depends on how old they are and whether they live in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. Below is an overview of milk provision, including links to further information and how your setting or child can get involved.
Nursery Milk Scheme
(England, Scotland and Wales, under-fives)
All children in England, Wales and Scotland under the age of five are eligible to receive a free 1/3rd pint of milk through the Nursery Milk Scheme, provided they attend an early years setting for two or more hours a day. Information on getting involved in the scheme can be found here .

A separate scheme is also in place in Northern Ireland, where all children under the age of five are also eligible to receive a free 1/3rd pint of milk. All children attending special schools are also eligible to receive a free 1/3rd pint of milk. Further information can be found by contacting your regional education authority - the details of which are available here .
