Update on the School Food Plan
The School Food Plan has launched an interactive update on the progress of measures to improve the quality of school food and drink in England, focusing on the School Food Standards, the uptake of free school meals, cooking in the curriculum and other topics. The update shows that as of November 2015, over 1,500 academies that are currently exempt from following the standards have voluntarily signed up – amounting to almost 40% of the total. The Alliance will be approaching Myles Bremner, the Director of the School Food Plan, to discuss compliance with the School Food Standards and the potential for the Alliance’s briefing for school governors to be included as a resource on the plan’s website.
