The Alliance meets with Sir David Amess MP

The Alliance has met with the office of Sir David Amess, the Conservative MP for Southend West on 4th July in the Houses of Parliament. In the meeting, our spokesperson Dr Hilary Jones outlined the Alliance’s current campaigns to protect school milk from the loss of EU subsidies after Brexit, and to promote the nursery milk scheme. Dr Hilary outlined the body of research available evidencing the benefits to children of drinking milk, including preventing child obesity and improving child dental and bone health. Sir David agreed with our messages and aims, became a member of the Alliance, and offered to support us going forward.
The School and Nursery Milk Alliance aims to ensure that children receive all the benefits that drinking milk in a school or early years setting provides, including: essential nutrients for a growing child, opportunities to develop social skills and encouraging lifelong healthy living habits.
